Big Powderhorn Mountain is seeking friendly, dependable, and safety-focused Lift Operators to join our Hill Operations team for the winter season. Lift Operators are among the first and last employees our guests interact with each day, making them the “face” of Big Powderhorn Mountain and an essential part of creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, interacting with people, and being part of a team that helps guests make lasting winter memories. Full-time and part-time seasonal positions are available.
Responsibilities
- Assist guests with the safe loading and unloading of all chairlifts and surface lifts.
- Welcome guests with a positive attitude and provide exceptional customer service throughout the day.
- Monitor lift operations and remain attentive to ensure safe and efficient operation at all times.
- Maintain loading and unloading areas by shoveling snow, clearing ice, setting signs, organizing lift mazes, and keeping work areas clean.
- Perform daily lift start-up inspections, operational checks, and end-of-day shutdown procedures.
- Identify and promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or maintenance issues.
- Assist guests with questions, directions, and general resort information.
- Monitor lift ticket and season pass usage and help ensure passes are being used by the authorized guest.
- Assist with seasonal projects including fencing, signage, setup, and other hill operations tasks.
- Follow all company policies, operating procedures, and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support resort operations.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Friendly, outgoing, and committed to providing excellent guest service.
- Ability to remain attentive and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors in winter weather for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and work on snow- and ice-covered surfaces throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
This position is performed primarily outdoors and requires working in all winter weather conditions, including snow, wind, rain, and extreme cold. Lift Operators spend the majority of each shift standing or walking on uneven, snowy, or icy terrain and must remain alert and focused while ensuring the safe operation of guest lifts.
